CAGE-AID Assessment
C: Have you ever felt the need to cut down on your drinking or substance use?
A: Have people annoyed you by criticizing your drinking or substance use?
G: Have you ever felt guilty about drinking or substance use?
E: Have you ever felt you needed a drink or used a substance first thing in the morning to steady your nerves or to get rid of a hangover (eye-opener)?
The CAGE-AID Assessment is not a diagnostic instrument but is a useful screening tool to help determine if further screening or intervention is necessary. It is suggested that a score of +1 requires additional screening and +2 is likely indicative of a history of problematic use.
A history of substance use and/or alcohol consumption may indicate maladaptive behavior and coping strategies in women that may have helped her survive but will eventually hinder her ability to thrive, most notably when faced with life stressors.
At Women’s Recovery our primary mission is to help women find, achieve, and live the life they truly deserve to live. Our curriculum and treatment is tailored to issues female-identifying individuals will encounter along their wellness journey. If you have an individual on your current caseload and would like to obtain a free assessment from our team, please reach out!
We are continuously seeking trusted private practice clinicians that can continue the exceptional work we start at Women’s Recovery on an outpatient basis. We would love to get to know a little bit about you, your licensure, and your specialities in order to best serve the women we treat.
